Mananchira Square is a park in the heart of Kozhikode. The historic ‘maidan’, adjacent to Mananchira has been converted into a garden, an open-air theatre, sculptures, an artificial hill, and a musical fountain. Mananchira Square was named after the man-made lake Mananchira, which is situated in the heart of the city. It is named after Manadevan Samoothiri, the former ruler of Kozhikode. It was earlier known as Manavedanchira (pond) and later as Mananchira.
